With a script and knowledge of how to plan for production – the students will now start to shoot their films.
We are on day 8 of the 15 day workshop.
Students will work in groups of 3-5 to make a selected script.
Students are encouraged to do some planning before they start shooting. The Teaching Filmmakers help the Students with script breakdown and building a shot list.
Students are given access to the entire school and outside location with a Teaching Filmmaker. It’s an exciting time with bands of Students working in the hallways, cafeteria and other public spaces to get their shot!
While the Students are shooting in the school – we continually challenge the Students to think about the fundamentals they are learning. Coaching the Student Filmmakers about composition, camera position, camera movement and capturing good sound. All these factors will be important to tell your story effectively. And – let’s not forget about the acting
Students are shooting on their iPads and also editing using iMovie on their iPads. Some students are adding shots to iMovie and building an assembly edit as they shoot. This helps to determine shots or cutaways that are needed as you build the edit.
